Hi there!

I am a former secondary English teacher. As a teacher, I taught the following courses: freshman English, freshman honors English, sophomore English, sophomore honors English, American Literature (junior level), AP Literature and Composition, and Academic Decathlon. On average, 90% of my sophomore students passed the writing and the reading AIMS tests with a "meets" or "exceeds." I have tutored students at the middle school and high school level in basic educational skills (i.e. organization, completing homework, test-taking, study skills, reading comprehension, etc.) and in English/Language Arts content. I am passionate about literature and composition and I love editing and helping writers to develop their skills. I am currently an assistant Academic Decathlon coach for the essay and literature events.

From 2007 to 2011, I served my district as an instructional coach. My primary role was to work with teachers new to the teaching profession to help them transition into their own classroom and complete the district's two-year Induction program. I worked with other instructional coaches to design and implement the Induction program. We also provided professional development for teachers at the building level (i.e. for the whole school or individual departments) and for teachers on an individual level. In addition, I presented professional development classes at the district level for experienced teachers.
